In the world of "missions," it can feel as though there are only two ways to serve: (1) long-term as a career missionary, or (2) short-term trips; there's the "long-distance runners" and the "sprinters." But there is another way to serve - another type of athlete: "middle-distance runners." They're like sprinters, in that they run hard and fast. But they're also like long-distance runners who need to pace themselves and maintain endurance. In a similar way, this type of cross-cultural ministry is a blend between short-term and long-term service. We're highlighting this hybrid ministry track in our Cross Training Program because we feel it has the potential to be extremely strategic and effective. We're looking for middle-distance athletes who are willing to run with both speed and stamina!
The middle distance program is designed for people who have the flexibility to serve cross-culturally for more than three months but less than two years. Here's just a few reasons why this program might be something you should consider:
