Day 21 | Joy to the World

by on December 21, 2019

Joy to the World (Philippians 4:4)
by Scott Messner

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel

Joy is contagious. When you experience something that fills you with joy whether it be a great meal, a concert, or vacation, you can’t help but want others to know and experience the same joy. When we experience joy we want those far and wide to hear and to know the joy we have experienced!

At the time of the first Christmas, the news of Jesus’ birth spread quickly and with it came joy that continues to spread all around the world. An angel said to the shepherds of Bethlehem, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. When wise men from the East saw the star, “they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.” When Jesus was born, great joy follows and spreads.

As we draw closer to Christmas, the news of his birth should fill us with great joy. Not only us but as the angel told the shepherds, it will be for all people. People all around the world celebrate the truth that God sent his Son so that in Jesus we might know joy. Joy to the world, the Lord has come—may the whole world know!
