Day 5 | Hope is a Lifetime Journey, Not a Momentary Emotion

by on December 05, 2019

Hope is a Lifetime Journey, Not a Momentary Emotion (Luke 2:1-6)
by Tim Scott

Every time I go on a vacation, I have different places that I hope to visit, many things I hope to see, or specific people that I hope to spend time with. These hopes fuel my excitement and energize me through the tougher parts of the trips (the long drive, packing the suitcases, standing in airport lines, etc.) Generally, in the end, it's worth the trip.

Mary and Joseph planned a trip to Bethlehem. Their timing was horrible, lines for accommodations impossible, and conditions almost unbearable, yet they started their journey towards Bethlehem with hopes of a child to be born. And what a child… the child of God. I imagine their journey had rocky roads, hills, and valleys—even dangerous moments. But they trusted God and the journey was more than worthwhile.

As you "journey" through the Christmas season this year, consider the hope that Jesus can bring, even through various blessings and disappointments, loneliness and celebrations, or discouraging and encouraging people. May the hope of Jesus restore you this season and show you that making the trip is worthwhile!
