Who is the Speaker?

This year we are excited to have our very own BEAU ECKERT as our Winter Retreat 2020 speaker. Beau is currently the Senior Pastor at Calvary Church and has previously been involved in Student and Young Adults ministry. Beau grew up in East Petersburg and graduated from Hempfield High School before attending F&M where he played football and baseball. After a missions trip to Africa, he attended CIU and started working at Calvary Church. Beau is married to Erika and they have four girls, Ana, Mary, Sara and Julia (and don’t forget their dog Lucy). It was at a Calvary Church Winter Retreat that Beau was challenged to take his faith seriously and he is excited to be back as our speaker this year!

What should i pack?

Here are a few packing guidelines:
- a Bible and pen
- winter indoor and outdoor clothes (we recommend packing some old clothes to get dirty)
- toiletries, towel and washcloth
- a pillow and sleeping bag
Do not pack liquids or glass bottles in your luggage.
Any students found with drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products will go home immediately.

All items should fit into one luggage piece and a sleeping bag, and should be clearly marked with the student's name on them.  Please bring your luggage with you on Friday night. We are traveling by coach bus, so all luggage will be loaded below the bus.

Calvary Church is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal items.

Frequently asked questions

Q. What is included in registration?

A. Registration for the Winter Retreat includes: transportation to/from the retreat, lodging for the entire weekend, meals, a Winter Retreat student booklet and a Winter Retreat 2019 shirt.

Q. How do you get there?

A. Transportation is included! Students arrive for Check-In on Friday, January 18th by 5:30pm and we leave from Calvary Church around 6:30pm. Students will ride together with their Student Group on a coach bus, with their luggage loaded on the bottom of the bus. We will return to Calvary Church on Sunday, January 20 around 2:00pm for our Post-Retreat Celebration with all of Calvary Church!

Q. Where does everyone stay?

A. Students and leaders are housed in duplex cabins that are carpeted and heated, with about 12 bunks in each side of the cabin, including a pillow and blanket for each bunk. Some groups that are larger than 12 students and leaders will receive extra mattresses for the floor. There is a bathroom with 2 showers, 3 toilets and 2 sinks in each side. You will need to bring bedding, towels, toiletries, etc. Each Student Group is assigned to their own cabin.

Q. Will the students get any sleep?

A. It's our goal that all students will be alert each day to hear the main speaker! Lights out is typically around midnight, so it is up to the leaders to make sure that their group is getting some much needed rest each night.

Q. Is there any free time?

A. Yes! Saturday afternoon is considered "Free Time" and there are lots of activities for students to enjoy! There is an indoor climbing wall, outdoor climbing wall, flag football, zip line, giant swing, pool & table games in the cafe, soccer and basketball in the gym, and a great outdoor ropes course.

Q. Should we send any money?

A. Spending money is optional. There is a snack shop in Frog Spit Cafe that will be open during Free Time where students can purchase ice cream, soft drinks, and snacks.
