Activities for 1-3 year olds

God is Big
Read together from your child’s bible the story of Adam and Eve sinning by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3). Adam and Eve tried to be like God, all knowing and powerful, but only God knows everything and is all powerful. Thank God that He is in charge and knows everything that is going on.

Help your child identify, by name, fruits and vegetables that you eat or that you purchase at the grocery store. Identify green fruits/vegetables, red fruits/vegetables, etc. Thank God for fruits and vegetables that he made.

Go apple picking or pumpkin picking and show your child how God made the plants that grow our food.

Matching big and small items
Find some toys at home that you have a big and a small size of the same item. (example: a big car and a small car). Have your child identify which item is big and which item is small. Explain to your child that God is big and he knows everything and that we are small.

Remind children to tell the truth. Adam and Eve did not tell the truth; this is sinning, and sinning makes God sad. God will forgive you when you ask Him, but you are not to keep committing the same sin over and over again. God loves each of us and wants what is best for each of us.

Memorize together: Proverbs 18:10
The name of the LORD
         (palms up to the sky}
is a strong tower;
         (hold two arms upright to make a tower)
the righteous man runs into it
         (“run” two fingers across the other hand)
and is safe.
         (clasp arms across the middle and rock as if holding a child safe)
