South Asia is comprised of 8 countries, including 3,806 people groups. Of those people groups 3,442 (90%) are considered unreached, and the majority of the unreached population is located in India.
Pray for South Asia
Pray for the 3,806 unreached people groups in these countries to desire a relationship with Jesus, for the breaking of spiritual oppression in Buddhism/Hinduism, and for more workers to be sent to these hard places and give them perseverance to the end of their ministry time.
Additional Resources
The area of South Asia where Jiten and Rebecca serve is steeped in spiritual darkness.
When they were commissioned as Global Partners in 2013, their predecessors prepared them for hard soil that may never produce fruit. It was a jarring comment, but they knew with God anything was possible.
In 2020, when Jiten and Rebecca returned to the States for furlough, they asked their Adult Bible Fellowship to pray. Looking out the window of the church, they saw Route 222 and had an idea: what if, every time the members of their ABF saw Route 222, they prayed for God to bring two men and two women from the “G” people group to Jesus? For five years, as they saw road signs and drove up and down 222, the members of this ABF prayed. And then, despite the hard soil, fruit came.
First, a young “G” man accepted Christ. Then, another young man and two young ladies from another community surrendered their lives to the Lord. All-in-all, two men and two women came to know Jesus as their Savior. Five years and countless prayers later, God had answered!
“Even though people said, ‘It is not possible,’” Rebecca shared, “When we pray, God works. We see fruit. We see the Spirit working!” Jiten added, “It is God who brings people to Himself.” He strongly believes that prayer should be the number one priority of every believer, especially those in unreached areas where spiritual warfare is strong. Without prayer, he says, everything would be chaos.
In Jiten and Rebecca’s office hangs a photo from their commissioning service at Calvary Church. It serves as an ebenezer of sorts, a constant reminder that the church is praying. It’s a reminder that recharges them. “Without the church people praying,” says Jiten, “we cannot carry on the work. It’s all because you guys are behind us. You guys are the backbone.” It’s an important reminder that we are praying for more than a region—we’re praying for individuals who are known and loved by a God they have yet to hear about. So, let’s continue to pray that God would draw the people of South Asia to Himself.
Continue praying…
- That God would continue to speak to the hearts of those who have heard the gospel, including these four young believers.
- That God would speak to people in this region through dreams and visions. Jiten and Rebecca say this is not uncommon!
- For miracles. People are very accepting when Jiten and Rebecca offer to pray for them. They believe this is the key to reaching their neighbors.
- That God would mobilize workers to go to South Asia. Many workers who go do not stay, yet it’s an area containing the largest population of young people, many of whom have Muslim and Hindu backgrounds.

Diwali

Diwali, also known as the “Festival of Lights,” is a major holiday celebrated in Hindu culture. All throughout South Asia, homes, workplaces, and cities are lit by clay oil lamps called “diyas.” At its core, Diwali celebrates light overcoming darkness and good overcoming evil. Pray that the people of South Asia would come face-to-face with the true light, Jesus Christ, who overcame the world!
