We know from Scripture that some of our most significant opportunities for spiritual growth come in the midst of the trials and struggles of life.

Pastoral counseling is given from a biblical perspective that is guided by principles from God’s Word. We desire to see you draw near to God as you see the truths of His Word come to bear in these hard places. We seek to bring the encouragement, comfort, and truth of Jesus Christ to bear on the challenges you are facing, helping you heal and grow as you are strengthened in your walk with God.

Calvary is committed to offering pastoral counseling for individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing a greater need of care and guidance through their unique circumstances.

Counseling is available, on a limited basis, to those who are a part of Calvary Church or one of our outreach ministries. Assessment and referral services are available to all, including:

  •  Individual counseling
  •  Marriage counseling
  •  Pre-engagement and pre-marital counseling
  • Consultation for helping others

If you are in need of counseling, we encourage you to take this significant step in your journey and reach out to us for help.

Meet Our Counselors

George May
Pastor of Counseling & Family Ministries

George May received his MA in Counseling from Mission Seminary in 1994 (then Biblical Theological Seminary) and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. George works primarily with adults and older teens. He loves counseling related to relationships: marriage, parental coaching, extended family challenges, conflict coaching, or friendship relationships. Other areas of interest include anxiety, depression, addiction, anger, career counseling, men’s issues, pre-engagement, spiritual life questions, forgiveness, and divorce recovery. George seeks to help people grow in their relationship with God, experiencing how the character of God and the truth of His Word relate to the struggle at hand. He has special interest in God’s design of the brain—and how it relates to counseling issues—and God’s design for attachment and how relationship dynamics play a key role in our lives. At Calvary, George is part of the teaching team in the Marriage Builders ABF (for engaged and newlywed couples), the Marriage Enrichment Class, and parenting classes. George and his wife, Linda, have been married since 1990, have three adult children, and love their role as grandparents. George enjoys many outdoor activities including biking and hiking. Other hobbies include chess, word games, visiting historical sites, and time with family.
