On Saturday, July 4, Manheim Township and surrounding areas suffered significant storm damage to roads, utility lines, and infrastructure. While state and local officials are working hard to conduct repairs, open roads, and restore utilities, thousands remain without power as of Tuesday, July 7.

As many of you have heard, Calvary Church also suffered significant wind damage that exposed the roof over the Calvary 56 hallway, leading to extensive water damage on all three levels, which includes: C56, 3rd & 4th grade, Calvary Preschool offices, and parts of the Student Ministry office and storage area. We are incredibly thankful for the many Calvary staff, volunteers, and restoration workers who have already been working tirelessly to begin the remediation process and move items from the affected areas to other classrooms throughout Calvary Kids.

What happens now?

Regarding repairs to our building, our restoration company has already begun remediation. Timelines are still being determined. These parts of the building are not operational and other classrooms are being used for temporary storage. As a result, Sunday morning elementary ministries (first through sixth grade) will pause for the rest of July, and those families will worship together in our main services. Birth-Kindergarten, Student Ministries, and the Conqueror’s Class will continue as normal.

Once we have clearer details surrounding the timeline of the restoration process, we will share additional information regarding any adjustments for the month of August in Life@Calvary, the Bulletin, and in our worship services.

Meeting Needs

Our lobby is open 8:30am-4:30pm on July 7 & 8 for anyone in the community looking for a place to charge devices, cool off, or use restrooms.

Many of our neighbors have needs, and many of you who live outside the affected areas have been asking about ways to help. If you have a need, know someone with a need, or are able to meet a need, click the appropriate button below to fill out an inquiry form. Our goal is to connect volunteers with needs that match their skills, equipment, and availability. While we cannot guarantee every request can be fulfilled, we will prayerfully and carefully coordinate assistance as resources become available.

Please join us in praying…

  • For those in our community navigating significant property damage.
  • For utility workers, PENNDOT personnel, and local officials working to clear roads, restore power, and respond to emergencies.
  • For wisdom as Calvary staff and leadership work with restoration companies to get our facility back to working order.

One of the greatest encouragements in the midst of the storm has been seeing so many of you actively living out the gospel within your communities by checking on neighbors, opening your homes, sharing resources, and caring for those in need. Keep it up. As needs continue to arise, keep looking for opportunities to serve, encourage, and point people to the hope we have in Christ. God often uses ordinary acts of faithfulness to make His love visible.
