The Fall Retreat is one of the best environments for life change to occur within our 7th and 8th grade students. This retreat is a critical part of a student's pathway through CSM, as it allows a meaningful spiritual step, deepens their relationship with their small group, and grows their connection with their leaders.

PACKING LIST PARENT OVERVIEW

 Theme: Behold

We become what we behold. By looking at the signs of Jesus in the Gospel of John, our hope is that our 7th and 8th grade students will be introduced to Jesus as their powerful King and personal friend.

SPEAKER: Kurtis Zimmerman

Kurtis Zimmerman
has served with Transforming Young Lives since 2015, and currently serves as Youth Ministry Executive Director. He previously served as the Warwick District Coordinator. PARENT FAQs

Why Fall Retreat?

We believe that a weekend away from the regular rhythms of life creates an environment for spiritual life change. Our hope is that students take a meaningful step in their walk with Jesus, connect with their small group leaders, and develop lasting friendships.

Who is leading the retreat?

Calvary's Student Ministry team leads our overnight experience, Kurtis Zimmerman will be our speaker, and our small group leaders are trained volunteers who are passionate and gifted to walk students through this experience.

What should my student bring?

Packing with your teen should be quick and easy. Just follow our packing list.

When does registration open/close?

Registration will open on September 18 and close on October 29.

How are cabins assigned?

Students will be placed in cabins with their Student Group. If you are a friend of a CSM student, let us know and we will add you to their group for the weekend.

Can my student bring their phone, smartwatch, or other electronic devices?

Fall Retreat aims to build real-life relationships with other students and leaders, while creating a safe environment for all. To accomplish this goal, we’re asking students to leave their technology at home for these 48 hours. Thank you for helping create an environment for real life change to take place during this weekend!

When do I pick up and drop off my student?

Drop off is between 5:15-5:45pm at High Point Camp on Friday, November 1. On Sunday, November 3, students are to be picked up between 1:15-1:45pm. We desire to give parents time to engage in worship at church before picking up their student(s).

Can Calvary provide financial assistance?

Yes! Calvary has scholarships available for students to attend Fall Retreat. Please contact Whitney Albright to obtain and fill out a brief application before completing the registration form.

How can I stay in touch with my student throughout the weekend?

Follow along on CSM's Instagram account for updates throughout the weekend. We’ll also be sharing regular parent snapshots through email, and parents have access to our small group leaders, who they can ask for an update at any time.

What is the food like at camp? Do you accommodate allergies?

High Point's Food Service Manager brings a personal touch and experience to every meal, offering a ton of fresh fruits, veggies, and options for gluten free campers, as well as those with dietary restrictions.

What if my student requires medication?

Medication must be turned in to the nurse at registration. Please fill out the medication form and put your student’s medication in a labeled Zip-Lock bag. For safety reasons, students may not keep prescription or over-the-counter medication with them.

What if I need to arrange an early pickup/dropoff from High Point?

Should your student need an early pick up/ drop off, please send a request to the CSM office before the retreat.
