Day 5: Full of Tenderness

by on April 05, 2020

Full of Tenderness

Around this time five years ago, I was three weeks into my recovery at a local rehab center after I spent four weeks in ICU at Lancaster General Hospital. It was only about a month before, on February 18th 2015, when I was hit from behind by a car as I was riding my bicycle. Landing on the hood of the car, my helmet shattered the windshield and I was left with a broken tibia, concussion, and several more injuries. If it were up to me, I would not have wanted to go through this, but the Lord has used it in countless ways.

We all have gone through experiences that have not been enjoyable in any sense of the word. In my case, the Lord has used this experience in my life to minister to others in their own journeys. I remember many people came together and prayed for my health to improve and for a fast recovery. The bottom line is this: that we have one Savior, Jesus Christ, who went through a multitude of sufferings—more than we can comprehend—on the cross when He died for our sins.

Philippians 1:6 says “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” This verse has been an encouragement to me as I remember that the suffering we endure in this life serves as a greater purpose. God’s work in and through us stirs us to share about Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection that happened over 2,000 years ago.

This Easter, let’s remember Jesus and His suffering on the cross, thanking God for His ultimate plan of redemption for humanity.
